A tragic road traffic accident occurred today June 1, 2025 at approximately 4:30 PM on the Parombo-Panyimur Road at Got-Nam Hills, Kimoro Village, Pakwach District, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.

The incident, logged as Traffic Accident Report (TAR) 18/2025, involved a silver Toyota Noah (Reg. No. UAJ 208V) driven by Acia Florence, 61, from Ediofe, Arua City.

According to preliminary investigations, the vehicle, carrying seven passengers and traveling from Arua to Panyimur via Nebbi and Parombo, experienced brake failure while descending Got-Nam Hills.

The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and roll multiple times down the slope.

Motindane Monica Phillip Orwinya, a 61-year-old Congolese national residing in Angumu Cell, Panyimur Town Council, was died instantly.

West Nile regional Police Spokesperson SP Collins Asea confirmed the incident in a statement , identified the injured victims, as Acia Florence (driver), Maneno Monica (51, Maracha T/Council), Ocaru Moreen (32, Ambukoa Village, Maracha District), Lucky Raymond (35, Pajulu, Arua District), and Orwinya Spencer (2, grandson of the deceased), sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services rushed the victims to Panyimur Health Centre III, with subsequent referrals to Arua Referral Hospital for advanced treatment.

Police, inspected the crash site, confirming brake failure as the primary cause.

The deceased’s body was transported to Nebbi Hospital for a post-mortem examination at the family’s request. The vehicle wreckage remains at the scene, awaiting removal by a breakdown service.

Authorities are conducting further inquiries to determine additional factors contributing to the crash. Motorists are urged to ensure regular vehicle maintenance and exercise caution on hilly terrains to prevent similar tragedies.
