Arua Police Recover Stolen Firearm in Ayivu East Division

Arua City Police have recovered a stollen firearm identified by serial number PSOBO19574 upon receiving actionable intelligence from the Chairman of Kamule Ward, Nyaru Cell, Ayivu East Division, regarding a security breach involving the theft of a firearm.
The incident was documented and assigned Case Reference: Ayivu East SD, REF 42/05/06/2025.
According to police reports, a person of interest from Nyaru Cell, who had recently traveled from Kampala to attend a family burial, was implicated in the theft of the firearm.
It was alleged that Mr. Edema unlawfully acquired the pistol during his stay at his residence.
Follow-up inquiries resulted in the apprehension and detention of multiple individuals linked to the incident for further questioning.
During the course of the investigation, the primary suspect reportedly fled his residence and relocated to an undisclosed location. Concerned relatives, noting his absence, notified the Local Council II (LC2) Chairman of the development.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Collins Asea, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, stating: "A targeted search operation was executed by our investigative team at the suspect’s residence, in the presence of family members and local authorities. During the operation, the suspect was located and found in unlawful possession of a firearm bearing serial number PSOBO19574."
SP Asea further noted that the recovered firearm, lacking a magazine and ammunition, was seized and logged as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities report that the suspect remains at large. Law enforcement personnel are actively pursuing all leads to effect his arrest.
Investigations continue to determine the full scope and circumstances of the incident.
The police urge members of the public with any information that could assist in locating the suspect to come forward and cooperate with authorities.
