As political party primary elections commence, with National Resistance Movement voters preparing for primaries to select party flag bearers for the upcoming parliamentary elections, the Ubimu of Alur, His Royal Majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III, urges all stakeholders to foster a peaceful, inclusive, fair, and transparent electoral process.

This appeal follows a recent incident in which Patricia Munguryek, a nurse and resident of Zingili cell, was ambushed and attacked with bows and arrows by unidentified assailants in Zingili ward, Paidha town council, Zombo District, on the night of Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Sources say the incident is election-related.

Ubimu Rauni III emphasizes that the outcomes of the NRM and other political party primaries must reflect the genuine will of the voters, free from undue influence, manipulation, or interference by party electoral officials, leaders, or those tasked with overseeing the process.

He advocates for a process rooted in mutual respect, fairness, and accountability to uphold the democratic principles of the Alur Kingdom.

The King underscores the Alur people's long-standing reputation for peace and calls for this value to guide the conduct of the party primaries (parliamentary, district, and mayoral), as well as those of other political parties and the forthcoming general elections.

He stresses the importance of dialogue, non-violence, and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure a harmonious electoral process.

Ubimu Rauni III cautions against the recurrence of electoral violence that has previously disrupted the Kingdom, resulting in loss of life, injuries, and property damage.

He calls for proactive measures to de-escalate tensions and resolve disputes peacefully.

The King urges security agencies and leaders at all levels to prioritize conflict prevention, maintain peace, and ensure the safety of all individuals throughout the electoral period.

He also instructs all Ker Alur Chiefs and Cultural Leaders to guide the Kingdom’s subjects in upholding the Alur principle of “Kura Matira” (peaceful coexistence).

Ubimu Philip Olarker Rauni III extends his wishes for a peaceful, inclusive, fair, and transparent electoral process to all NRM voters and those of other political parties.

The Resident District Commissioner of Zombo, Festus Ayikobua, reaffirmed a commitment to maintaining calm, stating that security forces are well-prepared to manage the highly anticipated NRM primaries on July 17.
