Denis Oryma Olyeko, prospective candidate for Padyere county in Nebbi district has commended president Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for backing the NRM leaning independent candidates for 2026 general elections.

Speaking to Zoomer African journalist, Denis Olyeko, said he has cleared, way and ready to nominated for Padyere county MP race scheduled for next week.

Olyeko said his candidature is backed by other candidates who equally lost in the NRM primary election which was conducted on 17th July 2025 across the country.

He rallied the people of Padyere constituency to offer him votes so that he could represent the interest of the common people in Nebbi district.

After losing in the primary election Olyeko petitioned the results in the NRM election tribunal which ruled in favor of the incumbent member of parliament for Padyere county.

Olyeko is a vibrant member of Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), he heads mobilization in greater Nebbi districts of Nebbi, Zombo and Pakwach respectively.

He is famous for his generosity of supporting community development and needy people in the entire Alur land.

He appealed to the security to offer level grounds for the independent candidates to compete favorably with the flag bearers.

President who is campaigning in West Nile seeking re-election has met with a section of Independent candidates to harmonize things; however, media report says president Museveni has equally given a lee way for the independent candidates to compete with NRM flag bearers for parliamentary race.
