The leadership of Paidha Town Council has initiated a comprehensive rehabilitation project for the council abattoir situated in Jupuru, Omua Ward.

According to council officials, the 7-year-old abattoir has been experiencing significant deterioration, including broken window glasses, damaged pillars, and aged walls, necessitating urgent rehabilitation.

This has prompted the council to implement a targeted refurbishment plan to restore operational integrity and enhance overall functionality.

The LCIII chairperson of Paidha town Innocent Godfred Onega said , the renovation project, valued at 13.9 million Uganda shillings, is being funded through local revenue.

The project has been awarded to Jalom Investment Limited, and according to Jacob Kwesigwa, the town engineer, the project is under a four-month implementation timeline.

Onega added "We expect the contractor, Jalom Investment Limited, to deliver quality work within the stipulated four-month timeframe," 

The abattoir serves as a critical infrastructure component in Paidha, supporting the local meat processing supply chain in this busy commercial hub.

Omua ward Councillor William Okello, who also serves as Secretary for Works and Transport commended the council for ensuring the abattoir is restored to optimal functionality, enhancing hygiene and safety standards for meat handlers and consumers alike.

Paidha Town Council is a notable administrative and commercial hub of Zombo District in Uganda's West Nile sub-region. 

As per the 2024 National Population and Housing Census, Paidha Town Council, bordering DR Congo, has a population of 42,733 residents.
