His Royal Majesty Phillip Olarker Rauni III, the Ubimu (King) of Ker Alur, has called on members of the Alur Community in Lango sub-region to act as economic ambassadors by investing “homeward” in Alurland while attracting fresh capital and knowledge from the Lango region.

In his speech during the peaceful handover ceremony of the new leadership of the Alur Community Lango in Lira on Saturday, the Ubimu praised the community for its progressive spirit and deep historical ties with the Lango people.

“The intersectionality between the Alur and Lango spans centuries ,rooted in linguistic similarities, intermarriages, trade, and peaceful coexistence,” the King noted. 

Many Alur have settled in Lango due to work, business, education, and marriage, creating a natural bridge for collaboration.

In a strong investment-focused message, the Ubimu urged Alur residents in Lango to immerse themselves in the host region’s development ecosystem, learn best practices, and transfer that knowledge back home.

“Look homeward and invest as well as attract Lango investors. Come up with innovative ideas and projects that you can implement back home in collaboration with Ker Alur,” he said.

The King highlighted promising sectors in Alurland where investment is taking off, including:

• Commercial agriculture and agro-industrialisation
• Education and human capital development
• Healthcare, Urbanization, housing, transport and logistics, Tourism, hospitality, and creative industries.
• General business and knowledge transfer.

He encouraged the community to adopt a strong development mindset, quoting an Alur proverb: “Ryeku ma’monde wukelirajupa’or ba! Wutim tic, wunyol nyodu” , essentially urging hard work, productivity, and collective progress.

The Ubimu assured the gathering of Ker Alur’s full commitment to partnering with the Alur Community in Lango for mutual growth.

He announced the appointment of Jadit Rwothomio Wilson as Ker Alur’s Envoy to Lango, who will serve as a vital link between the Kingdom, the association, and the broader Lango society.

The message carried a clear call to action: Alur in Lango should not be bystanders but active participants demonstrating “Kura Matira,” the age-old tested way in which Alur communities build mutually beneficial relationships.

The peaceful leadership transition within the Alur Community Lango was applauded as a model of democratic maturity, setting a positive tone for the investment and unity message delivered by the Ubimu.

This event points to the growing interest in intra-Ugandan regional investment, where cultural and historical connections are being leveraged to drive economic collaboration between neighbouring communities in northern Uganda.

According to the His Majesty, By infusing positive development practices observed in Lango , such as strides in commercial farming, infrastructure, and multiculturalism into Alurland, the community can accelerate take-off in key economic areas and foster stronger cross-regional ties.
