Zombo District Identify Participants For National Primary Schools’ Kids Athletics and Para-Sports Championships Competition

Zombo district local government department of Education and Sports have completed selecting 30 athletes to represent the district for the 2026 National Primary Schools’ Kids Athletics and Para-Sports Championships Competition.
The Zombo district games and sports department completed the exercise of identifying the athletes on Friday 24th April 2026 at Zombo Upper Primary School playgrounds in a spectacular thrilling competition that drew participants from various sub-counties and town councils across the district.
Moses Aure, the chairperson games and sports in the district confirmed the development noting that the athletes who are both girls and boys; are prepared for the categories of Cross country, I500m, 800m, 60m hurdle, 50m hurdle, and field events respectively.
The Zombo district sports officer Aziz Onim observed that in overall results Kango sub-county emerged the best, winning the trophies for Special Need Learners-U12 category, U14 category and U12 category of Normal learners respectively.
Onim added that Greater Warr [Warr sub-county and Warr town council] won the trophy of the U14 category of Norman Learners hence emerging overall champion for Zombo district athletics U12 and U14.
In 2023, Zombo district emerged champion in the special need learner’s category held in Mbarara city, Western Uganda, bringing pride home, the district officials and games and sports teachers are optimistic with discipline of participants at training camp.
The district LC V Chairperson James Oruna Uyullu has encouraged the athletes to maintain the pride of winning the national trophies.
The LC V Uyullu appreciated the athletes for the determination they showcased during their two days of district preparatory competitions.
He appealed to the athletes to maintain routine practice to keep fit for the competitions ahead of them.
Tororo High School in Tororo Municipality has officially been cleared to host the 2026 National Primary Schools' Kids' Athletics and Para-Games Championships.
The competition is scheduled to run from May 4 to 14, 2026, marking another historic milestone for the Eastern Uganda-based institution.
Tororo High School and Rock View are Co-hosting schools was declared during local government meeting with Ministry of Education and Sports; Following final inspection of facilities conducted by official from the Ministry of Education and Sports led by Sam Odong, Assistant Commissioner of the physical education and sports department Tororo Municipality was declared for the event.
