‎The government with support from World Bank has completed construction worth UGX 4.8billion projects of Kango and Amei Seed  Secondary Schools in Zombo district under Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UgIFT) education program.

‎The two projects were implemented in Kango and Paidha Sub-counties as government initiative extending  access, affordable secondary school education to rural areas.

‎The Zombo district leaders including community members received the two fully furnished and equiped structures comprising classrooms, science laboratories, computers labs, officers toilet facilities on Tuesday,  June 2nd 2026 from contractor Newton Technical Services.

‎The  facilities has also  teachers' quarters, electricity and water installation respectively.

‎The classrooms are fully equiped with bookshelves, desk, Tables among others to provide conducive learning environment.

‎Speaking during the handover ceremony of the insfrutural development of the two schools, the Zombo district senior civil Eng. Isaac Ngageno, says the district will be monitoring defects liability up to December 2026.

‎‎"Amei and Kango seed secondary schools Project  are implemented under UGIFT, each school costed 2.4 billion. Practical completion was attained in December 2025. Defects liability period runs up to December 2026." Eng. Ngageno stresses during handover ceremony on Tuesday June 2nd 2026

‎Newton Technical Services' director, Mr Muragesh Hiremath made a commitment to the district officials that, by August, when the electricity lines reaches the school  compound they will connect meanwhile water will be  connected within time.

‎"we are giving the district commitment letter to complete the remaining works."

‎"I want to thank the district for giving us the contact and we successfully completed the project".  Mr Muragesh assured the district officials

‎The Zombo district Education Officer (DEO), Patrick Angala revealed that they opened Bank accounts for both schools.

‎He revealed that the Ministry of Education and Sports have delivered laboratory equipments, apparatus, reagents and computers which soon be installed immediately the schools are connected to electricity.

‎Principal Assistant Secretary Zombo district Ephraem Kumakech, rallied  community, teachers and learners to embrace education,  games and sports respectively.

‎James Uyullu Uruna, the LC V Chairperson while making remarks urged community to own and protect the school infrastructure imploring the local population to benefit from the government initiative by increasing enrollment.

‎Mr Uyullu tasked the LC III Chairpersons to submmit the  names of qualified persons to the district for vetting for positions of  board of governors of the respective institutions.

‎"Contructor, your commitment of doing other things left, you should keep them". Mr Uyullu reiterated to the contructor

‎Under this arrangement, government is also constructing teachers quarters of four units at both schools.

‎Uzunga Mateo, 75, pleaded to farmers to use livelihood funds to produce onion, cabbages, g.nuts, coffee, beans among others to support paying school fees.

‎He commended president Yoweri Museveni Kaguta for extending such development to the rural areas.

‎The LC III Chairperson of Kango subcounty,  Christino Odaga observed that three qualified volunteers teachers holding diploma and one degree in education among others community members conducting lessons.

‎Mr Odaga confirmed that minority ethnicities of Kebu, and Lugbara are the ones, teaching and managing the school in Kango Sub-county.

‎‎"We have Kebu Lugbara and Madi who are the minority tribes in Zombo district while also Alur, Bantu  tribes are teaching the learners." Odaga

‎Chairman LC I of Ondreko village Martine Theku, Paduba parish in Kango Sub-county applauded the government for establishing Kango Seed secondary school, appealing to community engage in productive ventures to support the education of pupils.

‎LC III Chairperson, Paidha Sub-county, Austman Wathum say 52 students are registered in senior one and two, and  volunteers diploma and degree holders are teaching students at Amei Seed Secondary Schools.

‎Paidha Sub-county has six primary schools Meanwhile  Kango Seed Secondary School hosts Seven government aided primary schools to feed the two institutions.
