WEST NILE CIVIL SOCIETY NETWORK LAUNCHES CITIZEN SERVICE DELIVERY ASPIRATIONS INITIATIVE.

The West Nile Civil Society Network (WESCINET) has officially launched the West Nile Sub-Regional Citizen’s Service Delivery Aspirations Project, a transformative initiative designed to strengthen grassroots social accountability and promote inclusive development across the region.The launch event, held at Blue Cuts Motel in Koboko District, brought together participants and stakeholders from Maracha and Yumbe Districts. The gathering served as a platform to discuss shared aspirations, evaluate service delivery gaps, and explore ways to empower citizens in demanding transparency and good governance.

According to Mr. Feni Twaib, the Chief Executive Officer of WECISNET, the organization remains committed to “addressing key issues that hinder the socio-economic development of the West Nile region.” He emphasized that civil society has a vital role to play in ensuring that citizens’ voices are heard and their needs reflected in policy and service delivery.

Ms. Juliet Akello, the Senior Programme Associate at the Uganda National NGO Forum, urged local leaders and stakeholders to “actively implement the project’s objectives to achieve its intended impact.” She reiterated the importance of collaboration between citizens, government institutions, and development partners to ensure accountability at all levels.

Representing the citizens of West Nile, Ms. Florence Amaguru expressed optimism about the initiative, noting that “the community expects improved governance, transparency, and accountability from their leaders following the launch of this project.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Stephen Obitrem, the LC5 Chairperson of Maracha District, emphasized that “public demand for accountability is essential in rebuilding trust between leaders and citizens, which ultimately enhances service delivery and integrity.”

Speaking at the event, Mr. Vuyaya Vuni Mathew, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Yumbe District, called upon all stakeholders to “embrace this civic engagement initiative not just institutionally, but also at an individual level, to create a culture of responsibility and ownership.”

Recent statistics indicate that service delivery in the West Nile sub-region remains a mix of progress and persistent challenges. While improvements have been seen in sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure, citizens continue to aspire for better quality, accessibility, and consistency—often constrained by limited funding, inadequate resources, and management inefficiencies.

As WECISNET’s new project takes root, stakeholders remain hopeful that this collaborative approach will foster a stronger sense of community participation and drive sustainable development across the West Nile sub-region.

Evening Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

As the day comes to a close and the stars begin to twinkle in the night sky, I come before You with a heart full of gratitude. Thank You for the blessings of today, for the breath You've given me, and for the opportunities You've placed in my path.

I reflect on the moments of joy, the challenges overcome, and the lessons learned. I thank You for Your presence with me through it all, guiding me, strengthening me, and comforting me.

Lord, I ask for Your forgiveness for any shortcomings, mistakes, or hurts I may have caused today. Cleanse me and renew my spirit as I prepare for rest.

Watch over me through the night, protect me from harm, and grant me peaceful sleep. May Your angels encamp around me, keeping me safe in Your care.

As I lay down, I commit my worries, fears, and dreams to You. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

I pray for those who are struggling, who are lonely, who are sick, or who are burdened. May Your comfort and love be their portion, and may they feel Your presence drawing near.

Thank You for being my Rock, my Refuge, and my Savior. I trust in Your goodness and Your love that never fails.

Father, I ask that You bless my loved ones, grant them rest, and keep them safe under Your wings.

As I sleep, may my spirit remain connected to Yours, and may I wake refreshed and ready to face whatever tomorrow brings, with Your strength and guidance.
