Bernard Ular, a reknown human right advocate who double as the chairperson board Okoro coffee growers co-operative union, and two unknown youths were reportedly attacked by angry mob in Lari village, Thanga Parish, Abanga Sub-County, Zombo District.

The incident occured on March 10, 2025, sparking concerns amongst activists in the area.

It's reported that chaos erupted when the three had gone to solve some domestic issues that it's detail is unclear.

An eyewitness said, " they came on a Boda Boda to harmonize domestic issues here, the issue was complexed, people grew annoyed and started beating them, they even left their motorcycle here and it was a good samaritan who came and took it to Police station in Paidha" 

Another eyewitness only identified as Okumu, explained that " they took off when the mob started beating and tearing their clothes, it was really a nasty scene "

The LCIII chairperson of Abanga Sub-County, Richard Awekunimungu, confirmed the incident without divulging more detail, adding that two unidentified people were arrested to aid in the investigation.

" Upon hearing about the incident, I informed police who went and rescued the situation and arrested two people" Aweku stated, noting that the detail of the incident is unclear.

The mob action adds to the troubling uptick in the cases in Zombo and other parts of West Nile Subregion.

In a telephone interview with this Publication, Benard Ular, a human right advocate confirmed the incident, attributing it to "wrong accompaniment" of the two Boda Boda riders who had gone to the area.

He said he is not in comma as being circulated.

According to the 2024 Police annual crime report, 26 people lose their lives to murder and accidents daily in Uganda, with mob action taking the lions share.
