How Boda-boda Rider Caused Accident That Killed 12 Passengers in Bugiri District
Police In Uganda are investigating an incident in which Twelve people died in a tragic road accident at Lwaba Village, Kapyanga Sub-county in Bugiri District along the Jinja–Malaba highway.
According to the reports given by the police, the crash involved a Kampala trailer and a taxi heading to Tororo.
A boda boda rider who was blamed for it reportedly attempted to overtake the trailer, leading to a collision. The trailer’s container fell onto the taxi, killing nine instantly.
Three other passengers who had been injured later died, while seven survivors were rushed to hospital in critical condition.
This is happening at the same time when the Uganda Police Force (UPF) has expressed concern over the increasing number of people who are being Killed in road accidents involving Boda-boda Riders.
According to the Uganda Police Force, over 100 people were Killed in Fatal Road Accidents involving Boda-boda Riders in the year 2024.
The Force has for this reason called upon Ugandans to work hand in hand with the police by reporting rogue motorists across the country.
According TO the police, this is going to help reduce cases of road accidents in the country because the police can't be everywhere. Boda-boda Riders have also been urged to stay vigilant.
