During a recent "Pad a Girl" outreach initiative in Panyangu Sub-county, a soft-spoken yet exceptionally talented young girl approached Patricia Jane Alobo, Queen of West Nile, with hope-filled tears in her eyes.

Her name is Marpamungu Faith, a 16-year-old alumna of Pvunga Primary School who recently completed her Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).

Defying significant challenges, Faith achieved an outstanding aggregate score of 10, a clear reflection of her academic excellence and potential.

However, while her peers are transitioning to secondary school, Faith remains at home—not due to academic failure, but due to financial hardship that threatens her educational progression.

Faith currently resides with her elderly grandmother, a subsistence farmer in Juputur West Village.

Her mother, Oyungrwoth Topista, has remarried and moved on, and Faith has never met her father, who is reportedly Congolese.

Without financial support, Faith’s educational aspirations are at risk of being unfulfilled, leaving her vulnerable to the cycle of poverty.

Patricia Jane Alobo, Queen of West Nile, encountered Faith during her recent "Pad a Girl" campaign in Pakwach.

“I meet many young girls, but Faith’s story touched me profoundly. She isn’t seeking extravagance—just an opportunity to pursue her secondary education, transform her future, and overcome her circumstances,” Alobo shared with this publication.

She further appealed, “I humbly urge educational institutions, philanthropists, community leaders, and organizations—particularly those dedicated to education, girl-child empowerment, and community development—to support this deserving scholar. Together, we can sponsor her education and empower her to achieve her dreams.”

Earlier this year, a similar case emerged in Zombo District, where 16-year-old Domtila Pimer from Warr Town Council, who also scored an aggregate of 10, faced fading hopes of secondary education due to lack of funds. After her story was highlighted by this publication, she was awarded a scholarship to a school in Kampala.

Faith possesses the intellectual ability and determination to succeed. What she needs now is a champion to invest in her potential.
