Patricia Munguryek, a nurse and resident of Zingili cell, was ambushed and shot multiple times with bows and arrows by unidentified perpetrators in Akir cell, Zingili ward, Paidha town council, Zombo District , on the night of Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

The Victim Patricia Munguryek, a nurse and resident of Zingili cell is receiving treatment.

Munguryek, a nurse and a known supporter of Zombo Woman MP candidate Topista Acamfua, was confirmed by family to be the victim of the attack.

Locals suspect the violent incident stems from election-related tensions between rival factions ahead of the NRM primaries scheduled for Thursday, July 17, though this has not been independently verified.

Sarah Pirango, the victim’s sister, told this publication at Paidha Central Police Station that Munguryek was stalked by a crew of approximately five assailants.

 She revealed that the victim was three arrowheads lodging in her chest and thigh, which were later extracted.

“She was hit around 11:00 p.m. while opening her door. Being a nurse, she managed, with help from family, to remove some of the arrowheads,” Pirango stated.

A nurse at Paidha Health Center III reported that Munguryek sustained severe injuries and requires urgent advanced medical care.

The victim filed a report at Paidha Central Police Station before being transported to Paidha Health Center III for treatment.

Topista Acamfua, Zombo Woman MP candidate, confirmed at the police station that Munguryek is a dedicated supporter. She denounced the attack and demanded a thorough investigation.

"It is true, I can confirm to you, that one of my supporters by the name Munguryek Patricia from Akir cell , Zingli ward, was shot last night at around 11pm. She was attacked by unknown strangers who had arrows and they shot her on the breasts and on the thigh. They held her, picked her phone and threatened her, asked her so many questions, especially whom she is supporting. Right now I am here at the police station to confirm to you that true she has been shot" Acamfua explained.

Topista Acamfua, A candidate for Zombo Woman MP seat whose supporter was shot at, condemned the incident.

Zombo District Police Commander SP Denis Kamugisha confirmed the incident, registered under Paidha CRB 35/16/07/2025, and classified it as an attempted murder case.

No suspects have been apprehended in connection to the assault, which remains under active investigation

Zombo’s Resident District Commissioner, Festus Ayikobua, labeled the incident “unfortunate,”assuring of a comprehensive investigation and condemned election-related violence.

" But really our people should style up . This politics has not come to really stay in our lives. It's very unfortunate. We shall investigate and find out"
