Police in West Nile confirmed that a two units staff quarters at Adjumani general hospital burnt to ashes after devastating fire gutted the building on Saturday.

The incident occured on 8th November 2025, at approximately 1400 hours, West Nile North police spokesperson SP Collins Asea revealed adding that officers received the information regarding a fire outbreak within the premises of Adjumani General Hospital.

Asea says a patrol vehicle was promptly dispatched to the scene, upon arrival, officers found that a staff quarter block comprising two units was engulfed in flames.

He added that efforts to extinguish the fire using a small handheld fire extinguisher were unsuccessful due to the intensity of the blaze.

And consequently, both units were completely destroyed by fire, leaving nothing but ashes.

According to police total value of the properties destroyed has not yet been determined, as the victims were still in shock and unable to provide detailed information.

Police says the cause of the fire outbreak remains unknown by press time and that investigations are ongoing. 

Crime scene investigators were on grounds collecting evidence for scientific analysis to determine the cause of the incident at the time of reporting.
