KAMPALA, Uganda — The Ministry of Education and Sports has inaugurated a new 13-member governing board to oversee the operations of the Uganda National Examinations Board for the next three years.

The board, which includes both new appointments and returning members, is tasked with maintaining the integrity of the national assessment system. Its immediate priority will be the release of the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education results, which officials expect to go public this week.

Prof. Celestino Obua was reappointed as the chairperson, marking his second term leading the body.

Several new members joined the board to represent various educational sectors. Dr. Cleophus Mugenyi, the ministry’s head of basic and secondary education, took over for the retired Ismael Mulindwa. She specifically challenged the members to eliminate examination malpractice and oversee the continued rollout of competence-based assessments at the primary and secondary levels.
