Tragedy has struck the Alur Kingdom following the sudden death of the Kingdom’s chief rainmaker and clan chief of Padwot Ramogi in Kucwiny Sub-County, Nebbi District Mzee Jenesio Adwonga Jalathindha II, which occurred on Tuesday, 7 April 2026.

Prince Lawrence Opar Angala, Prime Minister (Jadipu) of the Alur Kingdom, confirmed the demise on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in a statement, adding that the deceased left behind a legacy of wisdom, unity, and cultural pride.

“One of the most respected and impactful traditional leaders in greater Alur, clan chief of Padwot Ramogi, Jenesio Adwonga Jal Athindha II passed away on Tuesday 7, April 2026 after battling illness for the past two months since February,” Opar said in a statement.

The Jadipu described the revered leader as “a custodian of tradition and a guiding light to his subjects,” noting that his leadership and dedication to the preservation and growth of the Alur heritage will be remembered for generations to come.

The Kingdom described the sudden demise of the chief rainmaker as “a great loss to Padwot Ramogi, Kucwiny and the entire Alur community.”

On Saturday, April 11, a team from Jupa Magalu, royal descendants of Omyer Dhyang in Padwot Ramogi led by Jago Madit of Padwot Nyangan Clan, Siviko Olindi Jaldidi X, officially traveled to Kaal Atyak Winam to traditionally report the death of the revered leader.

The delegation met the Prime Minister (Jadipu) Prince Lawrence Opar Angala, who thanked the Ramogi Clan elders for adhering to the royal tradition of informing the Ubimu of Ker Alur and requested that Kaal Atyak Winam be represented at the burial ceremony.

The Prime Minister assured them that “a high-powered royal delegation will represent the Alur Kingdom and deliver the condolence message from HRM Phillip Olarker Rauni III to the bereaved family and Ramogi Clan.”

The deceased will be laid to rest on Monday, 13th April 2026, in Nebbi District, as many other burial and send-off arrangements will be communicated in due course.

His demise came a day after the Kingdom laid to rest its revered Prime Minister of Alur Djuganda Chiefdom, Uthuma Awothu Jalkunga, who was also the royal coordinator between the chiefdom and the Ker Alur.
