Police in Nebbi District have launched an inquiry into the death of a 32-year-old man identified as Oyirwoth Jonathan, who was found dead in his house on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, in Jupathombu Village, Goli Parish, Jupangira Sub-county.

The deceased was last seen on Sunday, April 20, according to family members.

His body was later discovered by his mother, Manuela Apoi, after she went to check on him in his house.

“I opened the door and thought he was sleeping, so I closed it. But the way he was lying did not look right. I went back, pushed the door, entered, and tried to call him. That’s when I realized he was dead,” Apio told reporters.

Apio also detailed a chilling report of his son’s underlying heart complications, that she suspect could have exacerbated his condition.

Jupathombu Village LCI Chairman Richard Obote confirmed that upon receiving information, he visited the crime scene only to discover that the deceased had oozed blood that could have triggered excessive bleeding then death.

“I went and confirmed it was true. I then called police from Goli Customs Police Station. They responded, recorded statements, and later alerted Nebbi Central Police Station,” Obote said.

By press time, a team from Nebbi Central Police Station led by the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department visited the scene and recorded statements, as many residents stood in awe to witness the Tuesday morning tragic incident.

Police advised residents of Jupathombu that in similar incidents, members of the public should not rush to touch the body or disturb the scene.

Officers who preferred not to be named said they intended to examine the body, but the mother, LCI chairman, and community members requested that it not be taken for postmortem, citing the deceased’s known heart condition and stated that no foul play was suspected.

Police had not issued an official statement on the cause of death by press time.

This is the second death in Jupangira Sub-county in a week, as the incident comes barely a week after another man, Ongey Alfred Pimundu, 54, was found dead inside his house in Jupuyik Village, Jupangira Parish, Jupangira Sub-county.
