The Ministry of Public service has launched the compendium of local service delivery standards in Zombo district marking a significant milestone to strengthen institutional performance and improve the quality of available services to the people.

According to the presentation from the Ministry of Public Service, the tool is now being rolled out nationally and the overall purpose of the activity being undertaken by the team in local government is to operationalize the online tool to track application/adoption and compliance with service delivery standards.

And the specific objectives are to; Rollout the tools for real-time tracking and reporting, Supply hardware which includes a desktop computer and uninterruptible power supply unit and conduct training for the End users.

The Ministry of Public Service supported Zombo district with a complete set of desktop computer including an uninterruptible power supply unit.

While launching the program in Zombo district last week, Denis Komakech Senior at the Ministry of Public Service Human Resource and Eisah Mayanja Consultant from New Wave Technologies which is behind the development of the system [Online tool] trained the Zombo district local government staff about this tool.

The Ministry of Public Service developed and launched the program in 2021and was piloted in 10 districts and now embarked on rolling out thirty districts including Zombo according to Denis Komakech senior human resource at the ministry of public service.

It was an extraction of relevant aspects from the main sector compendium of service delivery offered both at the central and local government levels. These have been documented through a participatory process purposefully for the key results areas under the department of Education, Health, Water and Environment and Environment, Lands Housing and Urban Development, Works and Transport, Production and Marketing, Trade and Industry, Social Development, and Public Administration and Management.

Munguaciel Peter Angala, the Principal Human Resource officer Zombo district has encouraged the head of departments to embrace the tool because it is good and user friendly.

Munguaciel have appealed to the government to support the district in areas where it is not doing well, especially recruiting primary school teachers and medical workers.

The compendium was designed to build civic competency, increase the supply and demand side of accountability, strengthen compliance with service delivery standards, provide a yard stick for developing institutional plans and budgets, and provide uniformity and consistency in the provision of service across local government.
