Zombo NRM Cadres Back Museveni’s Seventh Term, Appeal for Better Services and Roads

Hundreds of enthusiastic NRM supporters in Zombo District converged at the town council roundabout on Tuesday, staging a vibrant procession to celebrate President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni's swearing-in for his seventh term in office, while fronting improved healthcare infrastructure and road connectivity as core appeals to the NRM leadership.

The well-organized celebrations, marked by thunderous music from large sound systems and President Museveni's posters prominently displayed across major roundabouts, mirrored the high pomp and glamour at the national event.

Local NRM leaders described the gathering as a demonstration of overwhelming grassroots loyalty following the party's strong performance in the January 15 polls.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was sworn in for his seventh elective term at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala.

The ceremony attracted thousands of Ugandans, senior government officials, and over 30 heads of state and dignitaries from across the region.

Museveni took the oath of office administered by the Chief Justice, officially commencing his 2026–2031 term.

In his inaugural address, President Museveni declared a "Kisanja of No More Sleep," signaling an end to complacency and corruption.

He emphasized relentless focus on service delivery, wealth creation at individual, family, and enterprise levels to generate jobs, and propelling Uganda toward middle-income status through industrialization and improved governance, warning bureaucrats and leaders against excuses, urging faster implementation of development programs.

Zombo NRM Leaders' Appeals

NRM Secretary General Prisca Onegiu, alongside other district leaders including NRM Administrator Oliver Freeman, Paidha Town Council NRM Chairperson Shaban Ouchi, and ONC Coordinator Nelson Ogentho, led the local procession.

Onegiu congratulated President Museveni on his landslide victory , with Zombo registering over 70% support ,  and urged the NRM government to extend more services to the district in recognition of its loyalty.

Oliver Freeman highlighted the district's impressive showing of votes for the President, among the highest in the West Nile sub-region  and prayed for the construction of a district hospital and the tarmacking of critical roads. "We have voted overwhelmingly... we pray for district hospitals, tarmac road," he stated, adding that enhanced service delivery would further consolidate NRM support.

Shaban Ouchi commended the NRM government for its achievements under President Museveni's leadership and called on grassroots leaders to ensure services reach the people who voted overwhelmingly for the party.

Locals echoed these sentiments, specifically appealing for the construction of a district hospital and the upgrading of the approximately 119-kilometer Nebbi-Goli-Paidha-Zombo-Zeu-Warr Vurra road.

According to the NRM leaders, the buzzing atmosphere in Zombo blended  with national celebrations, underscored  the NRM's strong hold in the area.

Supporters expressed confidence that President Museveni's new term will deliver on long-standing infrastructure pledges, including healthcare and road network improvements previously highlighted by the President during engagements in West Nile.
