Mungwalo DRC Congo - Health authorities across Africa are raising concern after a deadly Ebola outbreak in the eastern region of Democratic Republic of the Congo reportedly killed dozens of people, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Officials say the outbreak has spread rapidly in affected communities, putting pressure on local health systems already struggling with insecurity, displacement, and limited medical resources. Emergency response teams have been deployed to contain the virus through contact tracing, isolation measures, and public awareness campaigns.

The Africa CDC warned that cross-border movement and weak healthcare infrastructure could increase the risk of further transmission if urgent international support is not mobilized. Neighboring countries are also strengthening surveillance at border points to prevent regional spread.

Ebola is a highly infectious viral disease that causes severe fever, internal bleeding, and, in many cases, death. The virus spreads through direct contact with infected bodily fluids or contaminated materials.

Medical experts continue to urge residents in affected areas to report symptoms early, avoid unsafe burials, and follow public health guidance as authorities race to stop the outbreak before it escalates into a wider regional health emergency.
