Police in Arua City Central Business Division have arrested seven youths in an intelligence-led operation conducted in the inner ring of the city on June 3, 2026, at around 8:00 pm.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with local leaders in the Central Division, targeted seven notorious suspects who have been terrorizing communities in the city centre.

West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SSP Josephine Angucia confirmed the arrests and identified the suspects as Andama Jamal, Avaga Innocent, Saidi Ali, Nasib Ajiga, Anguyo Gaddafi, Ajiga Junior, and Shafiq Jamal.

They are currently detained at Arua City Central Business Division Police Station.

The suspects are accused of robbing residents of valuable items including mobile phones, laptops, bags, money, and other belongings.

According to SSP Angucia, police recovered multiple exhibits during the operation.

“Upon their successful arrest, a bag containing marijuana, rolled sticks of marijuana and breaking implements was recovered and exhibited at Arua City Central Police Station,” Angucia said.

The suspects have been charged with possession of marijuana and breaking implements as investigations continue under SD reference 47/03/06/2026.

Police stated that such operations will continue until sanity is restored in the city.

SSP Angucia urged community members in urban areas to engage in more productive and legal income-generating activities instead of criminality in order to improve their homes and communities.
