Authorities have recovered nine more suspected unregistered motorcycles following an intelligence-led disruptive operation in Kirabu area, Arua City Central Division, on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson SSP Josephine Angucia confirmed the recovery in a statement.

The latest operation follows a similar exercise conducted on June 16, 2026, in which 27 suspected stolen unregistered motorcycles were recovered from a hotel parking yard linked to the same suspect.

A case of robbery of a motorcycle was registered against him, and the stolen motorcycle was recovered along with 26 others.

According to Angucia, On Friday, June 19, 2026, the same suspect led police to the recovery of one robbed motorcycle bearing registration number UGC 425C, which was hidden among others in a parking yard in Kebir cell, Kenya Ward, Central Division, Arua City, along Onduparaka road.

On Saturday, June 20, a joint team of Police and UPDF stormed the parking yard and recovered the additional nine suspected stolen unregistered/numberless motorcycles.

“During the recovery, members of the public became very violent and started stoning the officers, which prompted the use of some teargas to disperse the violent crowd,” Angucia said. “During the course of the operation, the windscreen of the motor vehicle assigned to carry the recovered motorcycles was smashed, and a case of malicious damage to motor vehicle was opened.”

Investigations are continuing under Arua City Central Business Division Station Diary reference 19/20/06/2026. No injuries were reported, and no arrests have been made so far.

The nine unregistered motorcycles have been parked at the Police parking yard together with the previously recovered ones, pending further inquiries.

The operation remains ongoing.Police have urged owners whose motorcycles were stolen to report to Arua City Central Division for identification.

The public has also been encouraged to continue sharing information with police to help recover all suspected stolen and numberless motorcycles for further legal action.
