The Alur Kingdom has showered praise on the Catholic Dioceses of Arua and Nebbi for rolling out a major expansion of the award-winning Radio Pacis, lighting up the airwaves with a sparkling new branch in Nebbi Municipality.

The community radio powerhouse, founded by the Catholic Diocese of Arua, officially blazed the airwaves last week across the greater Nebbi sub-region, Acholi, Bunyoro, and parts of Eastern DRC on 94.5 FM, the frequency previously broadcasting from the Arua Media Centre.

In a courtesy visit, Alur Kingdom Prime Minister (Jadipu) Prince Lawrence Opar Angala, accompanied by his Personal Assistant Prince Moris Jaludok, visited the new Radio Pacis studios in Nebbi Municipality on Wednesday, 1st July 2026.

The royal delegation was warmly received by the station’s management and technical crew, who gave them an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour and operational briefing.

After touring the premises and holding engaging chats with staff, Jadipu hailed the Dioceses of Arua and Nebbi for this landmark achievement, expressing confidence that the new station will massively expand the information highway and strengthen connections between institutions like the Alur Kingdom, the government, and the wider public.

“On behalf of His Majesty the King, I welcome Radio Pacis to our land and express our heartfelt appreciation to the management for this milestone,” the Jadipu declared.

He added: “It will help serve our people not only here but in DR Congo, Bunyoro, Acholi, Arua, Madi, and beyond,” while applauding Radio Pacis for consistently amplifying Alur Kingdom content and reaching millions of its subjects.

Radio Pacis, the celebrated community station operating under the motto “Peace of Christ for all,” first hit the air on October 25, 2004 after test broadcasts on 90.9 FM and has since built an impressive network: 90.9 FM & 94.5 FM (Arua and greater Nebbi), 101.4 FM (Gulu area), and 104.8 FM (Moyo).

The Nebbi branch brings dedicated local coverage on 94.5 FM, removing barriers for Alur-speaking leaders and communities while delivering the station’s signature multi-lingual mix of education, religious programming, news, and entertainment.

This latest move adds fresh star power to the Greater Nebbi radio scene, joining existing Radios like Radio Paidha, Christ the King, Radio Maria, Rainbow, and Pakwach FM.

During a brief press conference, the Jadipu welcomed the development and called on Radio Pacis to partner with the Alur Kingdom in mobilizing and sensitizing Alur communities across Greater Nebbi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, and beyond.

Key focus areas include promoting Ubimu Phillip Olarker Rauni III’s Alur Kura Matira Pronouncement, cultural preservation, language protection, heritage safeguarding, socio-economic transformation, health, environmental conservation, and education initiatives.

Radio Pacis boasts an impressive trophy cabinet: it scooped the prestigious BBC Best Radio Station in Africa Award in 2007, earned FUFA recognition in 2017 for outstanding football coverage, and made history in 2025 by becoming the first radio house to win the Stanbic Shield of Journalism Award for ethical excellence and professionalism.Prince Lawrence Opar Angala, Prime Minister ( Jadipu) of Alur Kingdom welcomed the establishment on behalf of the King.
