Zombo district leaders have rallied the community to embrace forthcoming mass vaccination against Measles and Rubella slated for October 1st-5th 2026 across the country.

A strategy by the Ministry of Health [MoH] to prevent diseases in children between 6-59 months.

Speaking to stakeholders during a coordination planning meeting in the Zombo district health boardroom over the weekend, District Health Officer, Dr Mark Bramali Boney said they are targeting to vaccinate 90% of children in the district.

“51571”, children are targeted, according to Zombo district health department.

Dr Mark says a vaccination team of 4, comprising vaccinators and mobilizers will be distributed in 256 points in the community to conduct the exercise.

Zombo district Health Educator Harriet Thumitho revealed that information is being passed to the public through media, social gatherings, places of warship, VHTs, Teachers and political leaders, a mechanism to reach a wide population.

Thumitho added that MoH has earmarked community drive vans for greater Nebbi to complement mobilization.

Fred Chothembo, the Senior Assistant Secretary who represented the office of Chief Administrative Officer Zombo, has appealed to technical staff to deliver for the success of the exercise.

Zombo district Vice Chairperson Hassan Ringtho implored that deliberate mobilization should be conducted at markets.
