Alobo Janet Patricia, a radiant and purpose-driven contestant from Zombo District, is making history as the first Alur woman to compete for the coveted Miss Uganda crown. 

With her infectious passion, unyielding commitment to social impact, and a vision to transform lives, Alobo is redefining what it means to wear the sash, proving beauty is a platform for change.

Hailing from Uwenjo village, Jangokoro Sub County in one of Uganda’s most remote regions, Alobo brings a powerful story of resilience and a groundbreaking initiative, the "Pad A Girl Campaign", to the Miss Uganda stage. This bold project tackles the silent crisis of menstrual health and mental wellness, empowering girls to stay in school, break the stigma of menstruation, and embrace their potential with dignity.

A Star with a Mission: The Pad A Girl Campaign

Alobo’s Pad A Girl Campaign is more than a project, it’s a movement to restore confidence, opportunity, and hope for Ugandan girls. In a country where 1 in 4 adolescent girls misses school monthly due to lack of menstrual products and pervasive stigma, Alobo is rewriting the narrative. 

Her campaign provides reusable sanitary pads, educates communities on sexual and reproductive health rights , and fosters open family dialogues to dismantle taboos.

But Alobo’s vision goes beyond hygiene. By integrating mental health support and entrepreneurial training such as teaching girls and women to make detergents for income generation, she’s creating sustainable solutions that empower entire communities. “When you educate a girl, you empower a generation,” Alobo declares, her words resonating like a rallying cry for change.

Breaking Barriers for Inclusivity

What sets Alobo apart in the Miss Uganda spotlight is her fierce commitment to inclusivity. Her Family Dignity Model ensures "no girl is left behind" , especially those with disabilities. By providing accessible resources in Braille, audio, and Uganda Sign Language, Alobo is amplifying the voices of deaf and blind girls who face double exclusion in accessing reproductive health information. 

Her goal? To reduce school absenteeism by 50% and boost confidence in 70% of participants within two years.

A Cultural Icon and Alur Pioneer

As the first Alur contestant in Miss Uganda history, Alobo carries the pride of Zombo District with grace and purpose. Deeply rooted in her culture, she embodies the strength of the Alur people while championing universal causes like education, gender equality, and mental health. 

“Miss Uganda is more than a crown—it’s a voice,” Alobo says. “I’m here to inspire, educate, and lead.”

Crowning a Legacy of Impact

With a budget of UGX 5,000,000 for her six-month pilot, Alobo is partnering with Uganda’s Ministries of Education and Health, local governments, and NGOs to scale her vision. 

From distributing dignity kits to training 1,000 households as “Family Dignity Champions,” her initiative is poised to transform lives across rural and urban poor communities.

As she graces the Miss Uganda stage, Alobo Janet Patricia says she is not only vying for a title but fighting for every girl’s right to education, dignity, and a future without limits.

“Periods should never pause dreams,” she asserts.
