Devastating fire gutted a residential building within Adjumani General Hospital in Adjumani district police says.

Police spokesperson for North West Nile region, SP Collins Asea confirmed the incident adding that they are waiting for arrival of the fire brigade from either Arua City or Gulu City to respond in the area.

"We have received information that a fire has broken out at one of the blocks within Adjumani General Hospital, involving staff members. A police team has been dispatched to the scene to conduct a rescue operation. We are currently awaiting the arrival of the fire brigade from either Arua City or Gulu City." SP Asea revealed to the West Nile journalists.

He observed that further details will be communicated as they become available.
