Underdogs Pakadha Seed Secondary School pulled off a stunning treble at the Zombo District Secondary Schools Games, clinching gold in boys’ football, girls’ football, and the newly introduced badminton event at the iconic Bar Okoro Stadium.

From humble beginnings in Rural Abanga Sub-County, Pakadha Seed arrived in Paidha Town Council with big ambitions and delivered a masterclass, shocking the hot favourites on home turf.

Their determination and never-give-up attitude paid off hugely after Boys team thumped Paidha Secondary School 2-1 in the fully packed Bar Okoro Stadium.

In the girls’ final, Pakadha Seed showcased superior class on the grass, dismantling hosts Paidha Secondary School with a commanding 3-1 victory.

The girls booked their spot in the decider after edging Warr Girls in the semi-final on Saturday afternoon.

The boys’ team produced an even more dramatic route to glory. They fought defending champions St Aloysius College Nyapea to a goalless draw over 90 minutes before prevailing in a tense penalty shootout on Sunday morning to lift the trophy.

In a further boost for the school established in 2003, Pakadha Seed also claimed the inaugural badminton title, defeating Atyak Seed Secondary School. Only two schools contested the new sport, which made its debut in the Zombo district championships.

Pakadha Seed were crowned overall champions amid pomp and celebration at Bar Okoro Stadium, proudly carrying the bragging rights back to their stronghold locally known as “Singa” in Abanga Sub-County.

Meanwhile, Paidha Secondary School won the girls’ under-17 trophy instead, providing the school with a well-deserved consolation.

Elsewhere in the Games

Charity College Paidha emerged victorious in the volleyball final, played at the Police Ground in Mvule Cell, Central Ward, on Saturday morning.

A total of 13 schools competed across three venues Kaya, Cana, and Bar Okoro Stadium, under a gala format.

This marks an increase from just nine participating institutions in the 2025 edition, according to Zombo District Sports Officer Aziz Onim.

Onim expressed satisfaction with the smooth organisation of the tournament, despite minor registration issues involving St Aloysius College Nyapea.

He encouraged schools to embrace less popular sports like badminton for greater diversification.

The qualified teams will now represent Zombo District at the regional games

In the Greater Nebbi Regional League, Pakwach Young Stars suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 2-0 away to Okokoro FC in Maracha District on Sunday afternoon.

At King Stadium in Cana in Paidha town council, Paidha United SC were held to a goalless draw by Total FC from Yumbe.

Paidha Black Angels SC will host Wakiso Giants in a crucial FUFA Big League fixture at home on Wednesday.
