Hundreds Bid Farewell to Warr Girls Student Pedress Angel

Pedress Focnirwoth Angel, a humble and devoted 17-year-old student of St. Peter's College Warr Girls Secondary School, was laid to rest on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at her ancestral home in Anyu Village, Zeu Sub-county, amid tears and heartfelt tributes from fellow students, teachers, parents, and members of the church community.

Focnirwoth passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. at Warr Health Centre IV after battling severe malaria and diabetes, according to a medical report read to mourners by the school's Second Deputy Headteacher, Odongkara Lawrence.

Hundreds of students from St. Peter's College Warr Girls and Aluka Secondary School, accompanied by parents and staff, attended the burial to pay their final respects. The ceremony reflected her deep faith, humility, and exemplary character.

Scripture readings from the Books of Job and 2 Timothy, delivered by her schoolmates, reminded mourners of the brevity of life.

Focnirwoth was remembered as a team player, a member of the St. Kizito group, and a devoted Catholic who had received all five sacraments.

A committed member of the Young Christian Students (YCS), she was honoured by fellow members led by YCS Chairperson Nancy Ajolorwoth, who surrounded her casket, held hands, and sang the YCS anthem in a moving tribute that brought many to tears.

The emotional atmosphere deepened when they sang her favourite hymn, "It's Not an Easy Road", with many students breaking down in grief.

The school chaplain, Rev. Fr. Innocent, presided over the funeral Mass.

In his homily based on the Book of Job, he reflected on the realities of life and death, telling mourners, "She is gone, but spiritually we are together."

He described Focnirwoth as "a very good person who never lived a bad life" and encouraged her family to remain strong and trust in God.

Born in 2009, Focnirwoth who had a dream of becoming a nurse, lost her father at a young age and was raised by her mother. She began her education at Zeu Primary School before transferring to Nebbi Town Primary School, and later joined St. Peter's College Warr Girls for her secondary education.

She fell ill last week and was first admitted to Agyermach Health Centre III before being referred to Warr Health Centre IV, where she passed away.

Students played a leading role throughout the emotional burial service, which concluded at 4:20 p.m.
