The President of the Women League of the Democratic Party Sarah Adong has boldly picked her nomination forms expressing interest to contest for Woman Member of Parliament, Zombo District in the general election slated for January 2026.

This development was significantly witnessed on Thursday when forms were handed over to her by Kennedy Mutenyo, Chairman of the Democratic Party Elections Management Committee at the National Campaign Office, along Balintuma Road.

In an interview with our journalist, Adong expressed love to serve the people of Zombo district in Parliament on an opposition ticket saying she wants to add a strong voice on gender for the development in greater Nebbi and Uganda at large.

She observed that in the 2021 general election she managed to get 17000 votes although she lost to the incumbent.

Sarah Adong became the 55th member to pick nomination forms since the exercise started 8 days ago.

In a similar development, a new kid on the block, Salama Jaffar, revealed that she’s being backed by National Unity Platform for the battle of Zombo district parliamentary woman race.

Salama, a graduate of Social Science from Makarere University, has sharply criticized government over failure by the government to tarmac national roads in greater Nebbi, unemployment among the youth of Alur which has rendered them vulnerable.

A total of nine female candidates have been nominated for the women’s MP race, combing villages hunting for votes as the winner will face the opposition.

Major concerns in Zombo district are poor road condition and lack of district hospital. The district has only one health Centre IV and at least nine health Centre III with a population of 300,000 as per the recent national Census report.
