Gen. Moses Ali, the 86-year-old Second Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for Adjumani West, has made a passionate appeal to President Yoweri Museveni. He is calling for the creation of a special Ministry dedicated to the West Nile Region and the immediate compensation of war debt claimants.

Speaking during a public appearance, Gen. Ali emphasized that the people of West Nile have long been left behind in terms of development. Despite their loyalty and support to the ruling government, he said, the region still struggles with poor infrastructure, limited job opportunities, and inadequate social services.

Gen. Ali believes that a dedicated ministry would help fast-track development in the area by addressing region-specific challenges. He argued that a focused government body would ensure better representation, resource allocation, and project implementation tailored to the unique needs of West Nile communities.

In addition, he urged the government to compensate families and individuals who suffered losses during the past conflicts. Many of these claimants have waited for years without any meaningful progress. According to Gen. Ali, failure to address these historical injustices could breed frustration and political unrest, especially with the 2026 elections approaching.

His remarks have sparked conversations across the country, especially among West Nile leaders and residents who feel overlooked. The demand for a ministry and compensation has now become a key issue in the political discourse, with pressure mounting on the government to act swiftly.

Gen. Ali's voice adds weight to a growing call for equity, justice, and inclusion for all regions of Uganda.
