The Muslim leadership under the Zombo Muslim District has commissioned the newly constructed Ebrahim Mosque in Solia Cell, Paidha Town Council, along Ubimu Road.

The facility aims to bring a place of worship closer to the local faithful.

The mosque, built with support from the Saliheen Foundation UK and the Muslim community in greater Nebbi and beyond between 2025 and this year, features the traditional Islamic colours of green and white. Green is widely regarded as the most significant colour in Islam, symbolising life, nature, and paradise, while white represents purity, cleanliness, and peace.

The commissioning ceremony took place on Sunday, 13 September 2026, and attracted numerous guests. These included a representative of the Zombo Muslim District Kadhi, Zombo LCV Chairperson James Oruna Oyullu, LCIII Chairperson Amos Jacan, Vice LCV Chairperson Hassan Ringtho, and others.

Yahaya Bakit, coordinator of the Saliheen Foundation in Zombo noted that the mosque is one of many charitable projects funded by the group, which also include feeding programmes and school support.

Paidha Muslim County Chairman Yunus Anecho said the mosque’s establishment seeks to unite Muslims rather than divide them.

“This mosque is specifically constructed here to bring a prayer centre nearer to our people,” he stated.

Paidha Muslim County Head Sheikh Shaban Oryekwun welcomed the new building and appealed for generous community support to fund its fencing.

He highlighted inappropriate practices in which some night-time revellers, particularly drunkards, have been sleeping under the mosque’s veranda, describing this as unsuitable.

He called for support from the faithful, political leaders, and other stakeholders to complete the fencing of the structure.

LCIII Chairperson Amos Jacan commended the Muslim community for strengthening faith in the town.

Zombo LCV Chairperson James Oruna Oyullu urged peaceful coexistence between Muslims and other religious denominations.

The Ebrahim Mosque adds to existing mosques under Paidha Muslim County, including Salama Mosque, Noor, Al-Abidin, Swahileen, Kaya, Ibraheen, Pagisi Bilal, Arafat Otheko, Ahmad Cana, and Musa Avono.

Sheikh Shaban Oryekwun, who recently resumed office at the Paidha Muslim County following the creation of the Zombo Muslim District, called for concerted efforts to ensure the newly created county develops.

The Zombo Muslim District was approved on 16 October 2025 by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) and became fully operational with the installation of its first District Kadhi in May 2026.

It was among 17 new Muslim districts approved nationwide and was formed by splitting from the older Nebbi Muslim District to improve religious administration and service delivery in the West Nile region.

It was officially operationalised in mid-May 2026 with the installation of Sheikh Abdu-Aziz Kassimu Amin as the first District Kadhi.Newly commissioned Ebrahim Mosque located along Ubimu road in Paidha town council.
